Certain tragedies need never happen...

The tragedy in Sandy Hook has kicked us all emotionally, I think.

In recent days we at the Citadel Project have received Media requests from local papers in the Benewah area, regional press, radio programs, the Associated Press and even the BBC has invited us for discussions regarding a television program.  As our Media page explains, it is simply too early in the evolutionary stages of the Citadel Project to accept these invitations.

The Citadel Project is nothing more than a community of like-minded, patriotic Americans who recognize societal threats, and choose to live together in a planned community among one another.

Sandy Hook would not have happened in our Community, once we realize our goals.  The perils in the aftermath of Hurricanes Sandy or Katrina simply will not be able to happen in our community once we are finished building.

My husband and I are proud to stand with so many other Americans who are striving to build a small community where neighbors really do support one another in times of need.  We are proud with every email and every comment of support and interest.  We are proud to be working with all of you, and that we have all accomplished so much, in so little time.

Many of us have each "taken point" on one task or another, since the scope of the Citadel Project cannot be accomplished without the work of many, many Patriots devoting their time, energy, specific skill-sets, life experience and collective entrepreneurial vision.  And let's not forget the "guts" and thick skins we all know we need to move through the inevitable mud-slinging, name-calling, foul attacks & intentional saboteurs shouting that we are scammers or crazy, right-wing gun nuts, or extremists of one flavor or another, or some other claims of nefarious intent. Folks do love drama even when there is none.

At first blush, because our concept of The Citadel is "big-think" few people new to the concept will be able to wrap their heads around it.  We are easy fodder for those who play fast and loose with facts.  They'll not care that we are decent human beings looking for an affordable, safe haven for ourselves and our families. They'll not care about our commitment to free enterprise and to helping everyone in the Citadel Community, as well as the wider community, prosper.

As many of us decided, my husband and I have placed ourselves sufficiently out-front -- in the vanguard -- of the Citadel Project knowing that we would personally absorb the first wave of attacks. We're accustomed to it. Big Whoop! Old News! Stand tall everyone. We all have each other's backs. Disregard the derision--and there will be plenty of it. Just continue moving forward. We have years of work ahead of us to bring our complete vision to reality.  But pieces are falling into place.

Happy Holidays!

Media & Interested Parties

There has been considerable media interest in our project, motivated in part perhaps by the recent tragic events in Connecticut.

The Citadel Project is not yet prepared to offer proper media interviews.  Our project has been a spontaneous creation with dozens and dozens of patriotic Americans working hard together.  We simply are not yet ready to offer interviews.  Our Spokeswoman is recovering from a recent medical procedure and will be able to properly interview in 4-6 weeks.  Additionally, we are waiting for a final set of legal paperwork from Delaware, and a few other details before we will properly be able to answer all questions expected in a professional interview.

Please feel free to use the information that is available here on this blog and at our primary website (IIICitadel.com) if you need background prior to the availability of a proper interview.

Regarding the Connecticut tragedy: The actions of a mentally ill young man are tragic.  Just one of the reasons many patriotic Americans are considering life in the Citadel community is to help ensure such tragedies have even less chance of affecting our families.

Our prayers and thoughts remain with those who have suffered in Connecticut.

Citadel & Benewah

We would like to thank the St Maries newspaper that announced our potential interest in settling our community in Benewah County in the near future.  We will be happy to have our spokeswoman sit with the paper for a full interview as our plans become more established.

We have another full article scheduled for the Idaho Statesman in the next month or so, we'll announce when to look for that article.

We greatly appreciate the feedback from the local community, both positive and otherwise.

It should be noted that nearly every unwelcome email we have received mentions that our planned community somehow intends to infringe on the city of St Maries.  This is inaccurate.  If we choose Benewah County as our final destination, changing St. Maries city is not on our agenda.  In fact, we probably have little interest in settling near the city of St Maries, for several reasons.

But thank you again for the positive support received by many.  When the time is appropriate we will coordinate with your county officials, if we choose to settle in Benewah County, and see how we can help bring jobs and other positive effects to the region.

Status Update

As of this morning, without a single bit of proactive advertising yet by the Citadel, we have more than 225 individuals and families who have reserved space in our community, wherever we finally decide to locate.  So far we've had a mixed reception from residents in Benewah County, but the number of Benewah residents who have wished us well and welcomed our community (potentially) into their county is higher than the naysayers.

But, of course, we are far from deciding our final location.  Wherever we decide to build, we will be very proud to help put Americans back to work on this multi-year project, and then continue to add revenue to the county with our many revenue streams.

The fact that so many families have already asked that we hold space for them is an overwhelmingly positive indicator, even with so little information that has been made public thus far.  Full details and complete application forms will go live at IIICitadel.com very soon!  You can do the arithmetic yourself: If we only build 3,500 households, we already have about 6% in the reservation stage - without any advertising!  Just wait until our ad campaign goes national!  Available households will quickly disappear!

We thank everyone who has stopped by with well-wishes in the last few days, and a special thanks to the Jim Rawles forum for hosting a discussion.  And thanks to our devoted Moderators who have been working very long, arduous days and evenings getting us to this point.  A project of such magnitude could never succeed without many devoted advocates.

Stay tuned for more, Patriots!

St. Maries Senior Care

Yesterday I made a post based on bad information I had been given, regarding a location for a nursing home.

That information was wrong, and I apologize.  I was made aware of the Valley Vista facility, and it appears first class.

Citadel Residents & Benewah County residents

The very few less-than-positive responses we've had from folks currently living in Benewah County are interesting, but not unexpected.  Every large project encounters pushback, even by people who have much in common with the "new folks".  It's human nature.

Folks in Benewah are preppers - so are the folks coming to the Citadel.

Folks in Benewah like Liberty - so do the folks coming to the Citadel.

Folks in Benewah like the country lifestyle, the mountains, the fishing - so do the folks coming to the Citadel.

The folks in the Citadel will essentially live on their own 3,000 acres and won't be trespassing on anyone's private property.

The folks in the Citadel will get their hair cut in Benewah County - I bet the barber's and hair salons will like that.

The folks in the Citadel will need wells - I bet the well companies in Benewah will like that.

The folks in the Citadel will like hunting & fishing - I bet the local Guides will like that.

The folks in the Citadel will need propane, cut wood and fuel oil - I bet those companies will be pleased.

The folks in the Citadel will wear clothes - I bet the dress shops and clothing stores will like that.

The folks in the Citadel will be hiring people - I bet the unemployed in Benewah will like that.

The folks in the Citadel will eat - I bet the diners and livestock ranches will like that.

The new Citadel residents will be opening dozens of new businesses - I bet the local papers and radio stations will love the new ad revenue.

If the average Benewah resident, right now, is a hunter, fisherman, outdoorsman, shooter, prepper, survivalist, you'd think he wouldn't mind having a few thousand more like-minded people nearby who mind their own business, stay on their own property, are good neighbors, yet are willing to cover his back if ever needed.  It's not like the folks in the Citadel are California Hippies.

3,000 acres is a tiny sliver of Benewah County, probably will never be seen by a single resident of the county who doesn't come looking for it.

Wal-Mart won't be coming to town.  Skyscrapers won't be on the horizon.

The only problem I see is that a few locals feel as if they weren't properly asked for their permission.

We aren't at that stage yet.  But the naysayers found out about this new project because they are preppers - and the project is a town of preppers.

Frankly, I don't see the downside for anyone.

Remember the Premise: Rightful Liberty

Welcome to everyone who is dropping by our humble home on the internet.  We know there is not much real meat on this website yet, we are putting the finishing touches on all of that material right now and hope it will go live within the next week at the IIICitadel.com site.

One thing we would all ask af anyone coming here is to remember why we are considering such a venture: Rightful Liberty.  We want to live with neighbors who live and let live.  We want to live with neighbors who will allow us to be us, without running to the Nanny State.  We want to live with neighbors who are as disgusted with Socialism and Marxism and the decline of American Excellence as are we.

For naysayers we would simply ask: How does our project infringe on your Liberty?  What are we considering that hurts you, takes food from your family table or money from your pocket?  How does anything we are considering infringe on your Rightful Liberty?

If this isn't for you, so be it.

If this sounds good to you, stick around.

Either way, we'll leave you alone, and all we ask is that you return the favor.

Rightful Liberty.  It's easy.

Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. ~ Thomas Jefferson

Design Time

We have had a lot of serious posts concerning the Citadel.  So, remember when we had that discussion about what we would like the Citadel to look like?  Once again, it's time to lighten up a bit and have some imaginative fun.

We are building a castle.  Every self respecting castle has a Coat of Arms, right?

If we had a Coat of Arms for the Citadel what would you like to see on it?  Now keep in mind the definition of a Coat of Arms according to eHow is:

The use of coats of arms became popular in Europe during the Middle Ages, as a means of identifying individuals and families. Heraldry developed to keep records of the genealogies of families using coats of arms, and many of those genealogies still exist. Today, heraldry is not regulated in most countries, and there are companies that sell decorative "family crests," complete with an ancestral history of the surname.

Of course we don't live in the Middle Ages and we can take some artistic license. ;)

So lets hear your thoughts and suggestions.  We need to think about what we are (martial endeavor), what we stand for (Liberty).
We need to come up with some different images, and of course a motto.
