First atom, "I've lost an electron!"
Second atom, "Are you sure?"
First atom, "Yes, I'm POSITIVE!!"
OK, now that I've gotten that out of my system, welcome to my first ever blog post. I've commented on other posts many times, started and commented on forum threads, but this is my first original blog post.
First of all, I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the III Arms Company and the Citadel. From the first paragraph where K introduced this idea, I knew I wanted in. Founders, FFL holders, volunteers, bloggers, commenters - you have all contributed to where we are today. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. You have started something fantastic. How many people ever in their lifetimes get to participate in something this exciting and meaningful?
Along those lines, I'd like to point out something I think is very significant. Notice that in virtually all of our discussions the tone has been very civil. We discuss our ideas and concerns, make points and counter points and work towards a consensus. Considering that the subject concerns our fundamental beliefs and our very survival, this is outstanding. Our core belief in Rightful Liberty and our actions so far encourage me to believe that the Citadel will happen and the III community we want is possible.
Going forward, there are many facets of the Citadel to be discussed and decided. I have some suggestions and ideas that I will cover in subsequent posts. They are, in no particular order:
- Why we don't need a Citadel city government.
- Organizing a Citadel Society, a mutual benefit society somewhat along the lines of the Elks or Moose Lodge.
- Creating a Citadel Co-Op to pool our buying power.
- Making our community self sufficient and resilient - see John Robb at http://www.resilientcommunities.com/
Our current social, political and economic systems appear very fragile and a collapse seems highly likely. Given that, we need to be as self sufficient as possible and think long term wherever possible. The more we can provide for ourselves, the better our chances of survival, which is one of the basic goals of the Citadel.
Remember everyone - think POSITIVE!! and let's make this work.

The Citadel is a developing community of Patriots in the mountains of Idaho who believe in Jefferson's Rightful Liberty and have chosen to live amongst one another, and have sworn our lives, our fortunes and our Sacred Honor to defend one another and Liberty.

Citadel: Pioneers, Craftsmen & Tradesmen
The first wave of III Pioneers to Idaho will probably be the people working directly for III Arms.
The first building to be built will be the III Arms factory. Immediately after the III Arms factory, the housing units will begin. So the second wave of III Pioneers will likely be folks in the concrete construction business and the tree-clearing business. Much of the land will need to be cleared of deadfall and live timber. A man who starts a timber company can expect a very healthy income. If you are starting on a budget, I don't think you'd need much more than a good pair of leather gloves, a chainsaw, a bit of chain, splitting maul, and a Chevy. My understanding is that many, many folks in that part of the world heat with wood.
Now, all of the homes built within the walls of the Citadel are going to be poured and reinforced concrete. There are several reasons for this, but they can be discussed in comments. Every home built by the Citadel will be left unfinished on the inside and outside. Utilities will be brought into the home and stubbed. If the Lessee wants the builder to use a concrete form, such as Castle Stone, on the exterior (or interior) or any other pattern, that can be done. You folks who want monolithic domes are welcome to them.
But the reason for only building the shell is so that each Citadel resident can control each and every detail of their home. You may want Castle Stone pattern on your exterior. You may want to face the concrete with red brick, or logs for a cabin look, or even go for a Tudor style, it is entirely up to the resident.
The same goes for the interior. If you are a handyman and want to finish certain aspects of your homes interior yourself, you can save a few bucks and enjoy the feeling of putting you hands to work. Or you can hire an interior designer and finish out your homes interior in any fashion you wish, from rustic log cabin to ancient Greek, to modern suburban design.
So I would suggest the third wave of III Pioneers who should head to the Citadel are Tradesmen and Craftsmen. Plumbers, electricians, carpet guys, counter and tile guys, folks who do wood floors, curtain makers, artists who specialize in paint effects, such as faux marble or frescoes, chandelier craftsmen, antique dealers, fine cabinetmakers for everything from kitchen cabinets to elegant libraries, security experts who can wire a serious security alarm system. If you specialize in windows, if you are a siding or gutter specialist, if you install water filters, if you can face a concrete exterior in brick or logs, you will have work.
Check the laws in Idaho and see what licenses you will need so your work will pass code. Check into the requirements for insurance and bonds.
The point, my friends, is that we are building a small piece of America that will operate as Messrs Jefferson and Franklin intended.
Your fortune awaits.
What are you waiting for?

The post below discusses the very real liklihood of refugee children who will come to our gates.
Of course we will give as many sanctuary as possible.
What of their adults? Perhaps Liberals who did not prepare and only in the Hell of civil war truly understand that their values are stupid? Do we accept their children and tell the parents to walk back toward Hell? I have no intention of sharing my bread with a stupid Liberal who is dying because of his/her stupidity. But his kid may be a different story. I'm not necessarily asking for an answer right now, but it is a question you should find a way to answer in your own mind.
In fact, I'd like everyone to look at the list of facilities and assets listed in the right column that we hope to include in the Citadel as it evolves. Can you add to it? Can you think of potential events, circumstances or unknowns we have not covered, and must prep for? Like our inevitable orphans, what else must we prep for in a SHTF world that you have not yet seen covered?
Think about it. Weigh-in.
Your life may depend on working it out now.

Essence of the III Citadel
The III Citadel. What is it about the name, the concept of a Patriot community that has made so many of our hearts soar with hope? I'm sure each of us has a picture in our minds that depicts our expectations of how this community will evolve. I want you to consider, for a moment at least, putting those expectations aside. I know the physical properties that we've discussed are exciting, daring, and just plain fun to plan, but there is more to the III Citadel project than mere architecture.
I am talking about the very Soul and Heart of this project. The concepts of Liberty and Loyalty.
The definition of liberty in my dictionary states: The state of being free in action or thought from the domination of others or from restricting circumstances; freedom. It also states the definition of loyalty to be: The state, quality, or an instance of being loyal; allegiance; fidelity.
Those of us in the III community that support this project, do so with a passion and a purpose that surpasses any of us as individuals. I believe that is what fuels the cohesion we have with this project. It is what motivates us to stand with each other against the coming economic and societal storm that will rip our country apart. We are willing to stand as one, to make sure everyone of us can live in Liberty. So Liberty can be safely taken into the future. If that isn't Loyalty, I don't know what is.
The III Percent Mission Statement: Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. ~ Thomas Jefferson

The Citadel
Patriots understand that an epic storm is coming to America.
Economic collapse is imminent. Disruptions of Just-in-Time supply lines will lead America into chaos. Violence along racial, ethnic, religious and economic class lines will bring forth famine, disease and a fundamental reset of life in America.
A group of Patriots have decided to build a community off the most likely lines of peril, a bastion of Jefferson's Rightful Liberty where we may remain safe, warm, healthy and comfortable while American society suffers the inevitable destruction that must accompany the decades of degenerating morality of our Countrymen.
The cornerstone of the Citadel is III Arms Company, an industry to support the first wave of Patriots who will become modern American Pioneers. We will build Fighting Arms and ammunition for Patriots and around us a town will begin to grow. Other revenue streams are already in the works. Our intent is to purchase at least one thousand acres, and construct a walled town of at least one square mile to withstand any potential violence from hungry, diseased Souls. Obviously the Citadel is not being built to defy any laws of the united States or the State of Idaho, or to withstand any .gov or .mil attack. Our fortifications are merely defensive for a SHTF world.
The Citadel will have between 3,500 and 5,000 households within the walls, with a single gate permitting access. The Citadel is not to be a closed society, instead a refuge for genuine Patriots who wish to live without neighbors who are Liberals and Establishment political ideologues, open for tourists who will be welcomed into our town to visit our planned Firearms Museum, shop in our Town Center, stay in a B&B or hotel while vacationing and exploring the wonderful skiing, hunting and fishing opportunities in the area, and many other attractions we will offer.
If you are a patriotic American who believes in Jefferson's Rightful Liberty, who believes in the Constitution as written, who believes in the Declaration of Independence, and who wishes to live in a beautiful, secure mountain town that bans Liberals from living among us, consider exploring the Citadel as we evolve and build. If you need to escape your suburban life and the vulnerabilities your family faces, consider the Citadel.
Ours is a community of Riflemen and Patriots. Living in a house, townhome or condo within the Citadel requires residents to voluntarily assume responsibilities for the common defense. Our community is not for everyone. But if you think you and your family would like to live among real Patriots and to be prepared for an America when the SHTF, consider the Citadel.
We have not yet begun accepting applications for residents, though the process will begin soon.
If you are looking for a fresh start, a place to open your dream business in a community where Free Enterprise reigns, a home in a place that will be safe when the rest of America begins to suffer from the long train of abuses endured for several generations, consider the Citadel
