The Citadel is a developing community of Patriots in the mountains of Idaho who believe in Jefferson's Rightful Liberty and have chosen to live amongst one another, and have sworn our lives, our fortunes and our Sacred Honor to defend one another and Liberty.

The post below discusses the very real liklihood of refugee children who will come to our gates.
Of course we will give as many sanctuary as possible.
What of their adults? Perhaps Liberals who did not prepare and only in the Hell of civil war truly understand that their values are stupid? Do we accept their children and tell the parents to walk back toward Hell? I have no intention of sharing my bread with a stupid Liberal who is dying because of his/her stupidity. But his kid may be a different story. I'm not necessarily asking for an answer right now, but it is a question you should find a way to answer in your own mind.
In fact, I'd like everyone to look at the list of facilities and assets listed in the right column that we hope to include in the Citadel as it evolves. Can you add to it? Can you think of potential events, circumstances or unknowns we have not covered, and must prep for? Like our inevitable orphans, what else must we prep for in a SHTF world that you have not yet seen covered?
Think about it. Weigh-in.
Your life may depend on working it out now.

From RedWulf:
ReplyDelete"I believe we need to return to our old heroic way of thinking. A returning to our roots and remembering the old tribal way of our Forefathers. We need to discard the mind-numbing ways of modern media culture and return to our hearth-fires within.
Society has degraded itself to a cesspool. Far too few men are passionate about anything except media driven hypocrisy. It seems almost everyone has developed a sense of entitlement to everything regardless of who it may belong to. School systems teach our children to be politically correct, underachieving socialists, that suckle from government's teat.
A storm is coming, I feel it in my bones. We must rise above, to seek that heroic ideal within ourselves, to throw off the mental shackles of this modern world. We must strive to constantly improve ourselves, to make ourselves better. Let those who choose to remain in their hole wallow in the murk.
Time has come when we must re-evaluate how we walk in the world.
Time has come for the Citadel, a bastion of Liberty for/by heroic patriots."
If you can't take their parents, you can't take the kids. Do you want to house kids harboring the memory of your sending their parents to their inevitable doom? Absolutely not. Revenge is a motive which never goes away.
ReplyDeleteKids coming to the facility alone? Sure ... take them in. Familes who show up? If you can't take them all ... don't take any of them.
It seems to me you would need a slaughterhouse/meat processing facility. Or is each family going to be responsible for 100% of their food supply? That would be a tall order for anyone, let alone folks who decide on a townhouse in your community. What are your plans for farms? Livestock? Poultry? Wild game preserves to harness the local fauna?
ReplyDeleteFood processing? Commercial dehydrators? Central food canning facility? Greenhouses (after all, your growing season is terrible up there ... you will need greenhouses)? Fish hatchery facilities for stocking your ponds/lakes? I like your ideas, and i know that you are in your infancy as far as planning ... but I am seeing gaps with food preperations.
I am interested in hearing more.
Also ... a dairy would go a long way as well.
ReplyDeleteThere is more food in the wild than most people even imagine. The problem is we have been trained to think of it as 'sub-par', or more commonly as 'weeds'.
ReplyDeleteHunting and gathering is notoriously inefficient. Why do you suppose we invented cities and agriculture? In highly productive areas, it can support groups of a few hundred. Less productive areas, maybe 50.
Delete5000 households in a two mile area would strip all living things from the area within months.
Orphaned children, perhaps. Children who come with parents? You can't take them and turn the parents away. Is there a reliable way to evaluate the refugees, (circumstances which bring them to the wall, needed skill sets, education, philosophy etc...)? Some things to consider.
ReplyDeleteLife under even the best of circumstances can be expected to end at some point. I would expect citadel residents would not be immune. I see no burial ground or cemetery listed in the citadel features. What will be done with your dead?
